NAIROBI (DOOXO NEWS) – The UK has renewed its travel restrictions to Somalia urging its citizens against any travel to the country.
In a renewed travel advisory, the Foreign Office warned Somalia remains volatile and at risk of terror attacks. It however gave a green light for essential travel to Hargeisa and Berbera but advised vigilance.
“Any British nationals in areas of Somalia to which the FCO advise against all travel should leave,” the advisory read in part.
The advisory noted ‘terrorists are very likely to try to carry out attacks in Somalia’ adding there is a high threat of kidnap throughout the country.
Those traveling to back to the UK will need to provide contact details and self isolate for 14 days, the Foreign Office said.
The advisory has been renewed for over three years now.
